China-funded Enterprises Symposium Successfully Held in Kazakhstan on August 18, 2023

On the morning of August 18, 2023, Liu Liqiang, Chairman of Jiaxin International, attended the “China-funded Enterprises Symposium” held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The symposium was organized by the China Overseas Development Association (CODA) and chaired by Wang Kewen, Deputy Secretary-General of CODA. At the invitation of CODA President He Zhenwei, Jiang Wei, Consul General of China in Almaty, also attended the symposium, where she listened to reports, concerns, and suggestions from representatives of enterprises operating in Kazakhstan and provided guidance and feedback.
During the meeting, He Zhenwei made three key recommendations: First, make full use of the China-Kazakhstan production capacity and investment cooperation mechanisms; second, leverage the resources of the Consulate General of China in Almaty; third, harness the power of people-to-people ties as the strongest force for cooperation.
Representatives from financial institutions and enterprises, including Jiaxin International, Jiangxi Copper, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Bank of China, China Development Bank, CChina Zhongyuan Engineering Corporation (CZEC), China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (NFC), Universal Energy, Huashan International, Hubei Hemanjin, Golden Camel, Zhejiang Liyang, and the Traditional Medicine Center, spoke in turn, sharing experiences, exchanging thoughts, reporting issues, and offering suggestions.
Jiang Wei, Consul General of China in Almaty, expressed her appreciation to CODA for organizing the event and providing an opportunity for direct dialogue with a broad representation of entrepreneurs. She attentively listened to the issues and suggestions raised by the participating companies, which included topics such as workforce stability, cross-border payments and RMB internationalization, the mismatch between labor quotas and hiring needs, credential recognition for professional visa applicants, fair taxation related to equal pay for equal work, and resolving infrastructure bottlenecks. The Consulate General of China in Almaty will continue to provide services and protection to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises within its consular district, supporting the high-quality development of Chinese enterprises' cooperation in Kazakhstan.
The symposium was widely welcomed and received unanimous praise from participants.
